RESUME
Daniel Labonne holds a post graduate degree (MPhil) from the University of London. He has also been trained in the USA, in Canada, at the British Theatre Association (BTA) and at City University (London). Initially, a teacher of French and literature then a language coach. Actor, stage director, playwright, actor training specialist, researcher in theatre arts, he has worked in some 15 countries across Europe and Africa. He has been a consultant for Unesco, Francophone organisations, African Development Bank and African Union. Project manager, he was in charge of the study and implementation of a pan African school of performing arts. In Mauritius, he was a technical adviser to the Ministry of Education and Culture. In UK, he was the artistic director of the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Society. Many cultural activities and artistic events have been organised by him. In the past decade, Daniel Labonne has reduced his creative activities to writing and publishing books. His latest publication: LE FANTOME DU PLAZA, was published in Paris 3 weeks ago. So far, he has published 9 books, including essays, drama, poetry, children’s books. Within the context of the papal visit to Mauritius, Daniel Labonne has been invited on TV and Radio to promote his book PAPA LAVAL (Cap Sur L’Ile Maurice). LE NEVEU, a play by Daniel Labonne was created in 2017 in Mauritius to press acclaim. Daniel Labonne has been a resident in the UK for 33 years after living in the Ivory Coast for 5 years. He is married with 2 adult sons, living in Britain. All his life, he has been a social entrepreneur, a landlord and property manager. In Mauritius, he has set up and owned a 14bedroom guest house, a care home and a student residence. Born in Port-Louis, Mauritius, he holds Mauritian and British passports.
